2018: Harley Quinn is a long awaited doeling out of Flirty and Chrome born on March 6, 2018. We had done this cross before and gotten some lovely kids but we never retained a kid until this year. She is long and level and just a correct and lovely example of the Nubian breed. I am so anxious to see her mature and become part of our milking herd!
2020: Harley Quinn was bred to GCH +*B Sweet-Spring Calvin Klein for 2020 kids and had beautiful twins on February 28. She freshened in with a lovely, well attached udder, well-placed teats and to-die-for dairy quality. Her udder milks out fast and down to nothing. She milked 9 lbs on her first test and quickly peaked at 12 lbs a day.
2021: Harley was bred to *B Camelot Cattle Co Dante and had gorgeous twins - a doeling and a buckling. She has really matured nicely and looks fantastic this year with that same lovely dairy quality to her very productive, beautiful udder. Harley found herself among the Top Ten Breed Leaders with her 3490 lbs of milk in 2021.
Harley's picture truly does not do this beautiful doe justice.
2022: Harley was bred to *B Wingwood Farm FA Abraxan and unfortunately in our first experience with pregnancy toxemia, she lost all of her gorgeous quads when an emergency c-section was performed to save her life 17 days before she was due. Even with her long road to recovery due to toxemia, nerve damage and her surgery, she still came into her milk with her same beautiful mammary as always. We are, however, doing our best to dry her off early this year to make sure she has the best chance of a full recovery from her ordeal.
We were 100% expecting Harley to be excused from linear appraisal due to being Not In Condition from her ordeal this year and being in the process of drying off. However, the appraiser said she absolutely needed to be scored and he had nothing but wonderful things to say about her, regardless of coding her stale. Harley appraised excellent in all four major categories - general appearance, dairy strength, body and mammary - as well as shoulder assembly, front legs, rear legs, back and rump and very good in feet with a final score of E91 (EEEE) - and again, all that with a stale code and the comment that without the near-death experience she had, she would have been at least another point higher.
2023: Harley was bred to *B Wingwood Farm FA Abraxan and had lovely twin doelings on March 9, 2023. One is being retained and we will be repeating this breeding.
2024: Harley was bred to *B Wingwood Farm FA Abraxan and had lovely triplets March 1, 2024. The doeling and one buckling is being retained. On our first 2024 test, Harley milked 13 lbs.
Harley's 2024 appraisal was only a few weeks after she battled barber pole worms and we were afraid we were going to lose her so she yet again, was not at her best for appraisal day. That said, she appraised Excellent in front legs, rear legs, back, rump, general appearance, dairy strength, body capacity and mammary; Very Good in head, shoulder assembly and feet; a 3 in rear udder side view with a final score of Ex91 (EEEE). We are praying she will kid in right next year and have nothing unexpected come up so we can have her appraised (and hopefully photographed) at her best.
